A few seconds…

Please Sir,
Do you have a moment? I know you are very busy, working hard to earn money. A family to provide for. A few seconds for you to look down at me and acknowledge my existence. To smile at me, to make me feel human and wanted. I know I look dirty and probable smell bad, but beneath all this I am only a human. Thrown away like a broken toy.
Please Sir,
Only a few seconds of your time is all I ask. Your friendly smile will give me hope and confirm that I am not forgotten. You pass me everyday. A few seconds is all it takes to say hello. A smile from your heart is all I ask. Tonight you go to your family. Tonight I will still be here. High on glue. Drifting away to a place far away where it is warm and no hunger exist. Only to wake up and realise that I am still here, waiting for you to give me a few seconds of your time.
Please Sir!
A few seconds! Is that to much to give?

Reality TV

kids I am no fan of reality television. Survivors, Big Brother and all the other rubbish that bring the worst out of people. It reminds me of the Romans watching people killing each other for entertainment to the masses.

Anyway a few weeks ago a new reality show started, called Kid Nation. It is done by CBS. I have to confess that I was hooked from day one. It is a group of 40 kids, placed in a ghost town in the middle of nowhere. No adults. No body gets voted of. They can leave anytime they like. It is like a modern version of Lord of the Flies. A sociologist dream come true. Wonder how a show like this will work in South Africa?

Booklist

I added a new page to my blog. My Booklist. It is not completed and there are many titles to add. Memory is a bit vague, but hope to dust it off and see what can be rescued. This idea of a booklist came from Flippiefanus. I am not going to tag anybody as it will suggest homework, but would like to see others creating a similar page and update it as days go by. Fiction or Non-Fiction. The idea is to eventually take one book at a time and write a small post about it. Hopefully it will grow into something entertaining as well as informative.

So all you bookworms out there, lets see what is in your bookshelves.

Enjoy the weekend!

Forget about the week gone by! Look forward what awaits you! I recommend Ouzo and some Retsina and lots of genuine friends. Grab those old plates! This reminds me of the years I was a good student and frequent the Three Sisters Restaurant in Hillbrow. (before Nigeria moved in).

Putting words on paper.

quill I am not a person that is very good with the written word. I have to admit I do struggle a bit when it comes to putting thoughts into “ink”. That is one of the main reason I started to blog was to practice to do so. Expressing my thoughts verbally I can with limitations. I found out late in my life that to put these thoughts into a written form can be a daunting task. Specially if you are not born with this talent. I do read a lot of blogs, South African and international ones and it amazes me with the ease people can write.
